About Us
A free, private, browser-based toolkit for detecting and converting color.
Last updated: June 2026
ColorDetector is a free, browser-based toolkit for working with color. It started from a simple frustration: pulling an exact color out of an image usually meant opening heavy design software or trusting a random site to upload your picture to a server. We wanted something faster, more private, and genuinely useful for everyday work.
What we do
Our flagship tool detects the precise color of any pixel in an image you open, and reports it in every format you might need — HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK, LAB and more. Around it we have built a growing set of converters, palette and gradient generators, and accessibility checkers that designers and developers reach for daily.
Privacy comes first
Every tool runs entirely inside your browser using standard web technology. Images you open are read locally and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. There is no account to create and nothing about your work is tracked.
Who it is for
Designers matching a brand color, developers exporting CSS or Tailwind scales, students learning color theory, and anyone who has ever needed to know “what color is that?” will feel at home here. The tools are deliberately quick to load and work well on phones as well as desktops.
Get in touch
We are always refining the toolkit. If you have a suggestion, a bug report, or just want to say hello, the contact page is the best place to start.
